HAPPY Positive Vibes MONDAY!
It’s that time again! I look forward to doing these positive vibes posts because it really just helps get my day going. Is there anything specific that helps you start your week off right?
This post might be just a little random but honestly it’s what I want to talk about today and what has got me amped up! A few months back I went to a Whalefest Festival in Monterey CA and it was awesome! It was right off of Fisherman’s Warf and they had so many educational booths especially for kids to have fun with! This was my first time ever and my mom and younger sister tagged along which was great. While walking around I of course was trying to stop at almost every booth. They had booths that were sharing awareness’ about whales and marine life. They even had a booth talking about the tragic killings going on in Taiji Japan, but let’s talk about that another day…
I came across this booth that had beach cleanups and events that were going to be held throughout the year. Now, I’ve mentioned in a few posts that I’ve been wanting to volunteer near the coast for a while now but can’t seem to find the time AND I’m not local. I talked to a woman named Emma and she was so nice! She informed me that they do a lot to keep everyone involved and would love another volunteer! So she gave me her personal card and that was it.
It wasn’t until about a week ago where I was having a pretty frustrating week to be completely honest. My passion for nature and marine life is thriving but yet I personally feel like I’m not doing my part especially with living so far away… Yes, I’m going to school in my town for my future career but can you imagine being away from something you know you were meant to do in life? I FINALLY said SCREW IT and told myself I would find her card and contact her. It took me a couple of days because I was a bit nervous but I did it.
I heard back from her today and there’s a good chance I’m going to become a Super Volunteer! A regular volunteer mainly helps with beach cleanups, nature outings, and kayak cleanups in the summer and that’s about it. Don’t get me wrong I would LOVE to do that but a huge part of me wants MORE! Is that such a bad thing to want? I don’t mean MORE as in I’m being greedy, I mean it as I feel like I have more to offer and help with along with those other tasks. That’s when becoming a Super Volunteer came up. I don’t have all the info YET but Emma and I are staying in contact with one another and I should be receiving more info on it very soon!
I’m so happy that I finally pushed myself to at least talk to someone. I can’t even tell you how many times volunteering or doing SOMETHING has crossed my mind daily.. It’s a very frustrating thing that I’ve been trying to deal with for a while now. There’s nothing more aggravating than knowing what you want and what you feel like your meant to do in life but yet so many things are holding you back and your so far away from it all….
Although I live over 2 hrs away from Monterey I decided I am still going to make an effort to do this! I truly need to do this for ME!
I guess one thing I can take out of this is that even when you feel like something or many things are holding you back from something your truly passionate about, you can still work something out. Even if the task is small and not much, you can still do it! By me volunteering so far away it’s going to switch up my schedule a little but at this moment I feel like it’s time for me to do this.
Well, what are you passionate about? Think about that question and once you know, no matter how long it takes until you figure it out, GO FOR IT!
